Mily nagy vagy Te! (How Great Thou Art) - January 6, 2019

Another great week in Pest! The holidays put everything in slow motion for a while, but we're getting back into a more normal routine again!

President Hettinger invited our mission to record a daily miracle every day in January,so here are a few of this week's:

Kellmer nővér and I talk to people on the street, a bus, the metro, pretty much everywhere! In Hungary, there is a bell called a csengő on the fence around a house, or outside an apartment building. We usually stand by the little csengő box and ring each apartment number one at a time. If they answer, we talk through the microphone and ask if we can share a message about Jesus Christ with them and hope that they'll be willing to h lock the door so we can go up to their apartment. As we stood there on Wednesday, we started by saying a prayer together and right then a man walked out of the building so we were able to just go in and knock on the doors and talk to people face to face! It was a little tender mercy that makes a missionaries day 😊

Preparation day adventure to Buda Castle
The next day, we had planned to spend time on busses talking to people but the bus we were on was almost empty, so we got off and ran over to the little Spar grocery store to pick up a few things and wait for the next bus. When we walked in, we ran into one of our investigators and her husband and daughter! Heavenly Father knew that we would cross paths there and we were is grateful to have a positive interaction with her and her family.

So many super long escalators!
It is so fun to serve in Pest with our district! Every week we meet for a District Council to discuss how things are going with our investigators, service projects, language learning, etc. We set goals and report on past goals. We streeted a lot this week with Robertson and Turunen nővérek, and I love learning from both of them. I'm starting to get a feel for how to approach people to share our message. My favorite way so far is to simply say, "Excuse us for a moment--we're missionaries for Az Ultosó Napok Szentjeinek Jézus Krisztus egyháza, and we are sharing a message about Jesus Christ." We also start conversations by asking questions about new year's resolutions or other questions that could lead into a conversation about Joseph Smith and the Restoration. I am always so grateful when people are willing to talk for a minute or two and listen to our message.

Streeting with the other Pest sisters near our metro stop.
We attended a baptism for Károly this week! He met the missionaries about three months ago and the elders have been teaching him. The Pest church house has a beautiful font, and the ceremony was so special. Kellmer nővér and I performed "Mily nagy vagy Te" (How Great Thou Art) during the baptismal service, and it was a special day for the ward members, missionaries, and friends who attended.

HAPPY new year, and good luck returning to school and work after the holidays!

Love,
Emma Rae
