Israel, Israel God is Calling - March 24, 2020

What a week. I've been thinking and praying and eagerly reading updates from my missionary friends and the church multiple times a day. We are trying not to hold our breath as things change each day. I'm grateful we know a loving Father in Heaven is in control.

Our week started normally with proselyting on Tuesday, then our mission's quarantine started Wednesday morning. Since then we've received training and schedules for our quarantine time, with emphasis on online finding, contacting, and teaching. Incredibly, we've had more lessons this week than we've had in a long time! We also have stayed in really good daily contact with our closest progressing friends. Hearts are opening in a special way during this time. Thankfully, we run/walk for an hour every morning and evening. We've explored our corner of Kispest pretty well, and found a beautiful forested walking path near our house.

Other indoor adventures this week...
Taking baked goods to neighbors multiple times :) and lots of experimenting with recipes: banana bread, New Zealand Anzac biscuits, orange zest pancakes, buttermilk biscuits etc :)
Organizing and decluttering cupboards, luggage, and clothes.
Family history research [Grandpa Joe, I spent time studying about Leonard Allison Hill! Ever since you gave me his mathematics sampler I've felt a special connection to him and Margaret Ann Hill. It was special to learn about their life and experiences. My favorite thing I read was that as a patriarch, he gave many blessings to boys before they served in World War 1. Many said they carried their blessing as they fought and served, finding strength and comfort in the promises.]
We still taught our English Connect class--online version--about household and kitchen items :) Everyone loved it!

We weren't able to go to a members house for a Sacrament meeting this week. But Arps nővér and I still had a special meeting together with hymns, prayers, and our favorite conference talks. The ward also had an online Relief Society meeting and Come Follow Me lesson and a lot of members joined.

Before leaving on my mission, I chose Alma 26:37 to put on my mission plaque. It's taken on so many meanings over the past 6 months.

"Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen."

So. Much. Is. Changing. Every. Day. Arps nővér and I don't know what the next week will hold. But, I know that God's love and awareness of every nation, kindred, tongue, and people is unchanging. He has a plan, and it is perfect. I send you all my love and prayers from the other side of the world. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love Hungary. I'm so grateful and humbled to be His missionary here today.

Until next week!

Love,
Emma Rae
