Happy General Conference weekend!
On Saturday we joined Gábor's baptism in Szeged over Zoom. It was a special experience to see the members again and remember that life continues even after you leave an area. Bonnie said one of the prayers, Csaba gave a talk, Péter conducted, and Erika shared her testimony. All these people I love so much! Péter was baptized just over a year ago. He baptized his neighbor Imre a few months later (while I served in Szeged) and he conducted at Gábor's baptism as a new member of the branch presidency. I love and miss Szeged. I'm so grateful for the months I served there.
I also love Kecskemét! This week we delivered banana bread to a few ward members before General Conference and shared a little conference message. When we stopped at Tardi Anna's, she invited us in and served us little glasses of water while she shared things she learned in her scripture studies that week. She is about 80 years old and her husband died many years ago. There seem to be so many widows like Anna in Hungary. All she wants is someone to talk with about the gospel. She never complains about what she's been through and always reminds us that the most important things are to "olvasunk az Úrnak a szavait és imádkozunk és részesülunk az Úrvacsorából." (read God's word, pray, and partake of the Sacrament) She is in charge of choosing the hymns each Sunday for my companion or I to play on the piano. She always does it with such care and consideration. Wow how I love and respect her. I'm so grateful I can finally sort of communicate and understand. We left feeling so uplifted.
| We learned how to index **in Hungarian** with a member from Debrecen. So so cool. Notice the "Kemeny" last name--it's magyar. |
