A Mother's Wisdom - October 20, 2020

This email title comes from a really special experience Hutchinson nővér and I had together yesterday. Ask me about it in person someday. :) Thank you, Mama for all of your missionary wisdom. 26 years ago today you left for Japan!

Miracles are around every corner. With the beautiful changing fall color and cold breeze, it feels about time for a change!  My Grandma Hunsaker always says, "A change is as good as a rest." I'll be staying in Kecskemét, moving to another apartment, and serving with Sister Van Wagoner from Alpine, UT!  I love Sister Hutchinson so much and am grateful we'll still serve in the same city. We have had the best time together and have become forever friends. She has changed me in ways no other person could I'm pretty sure. I know Heavenly Father needed us to serve together and I'm so grateful.

We spent lots of time with ward members this week. On Friday we went to the Kecskemét cemetery for a funeral service. I love experiences like this to understand the culture and history of the people better. We helped sing and followed the hearse after the service through the gravestones to the burial. On the bus ride there we met a really nice girl and had a short but great conversation. I love how literally everything can become a missionary experience.

Then on Saturday we had a Young Womens (woman) activity! Gréti brought her friend so in total there were six of us plus Gréti's parents. We learned the cup song together, made rice crispies, and I taught them "Don't Eat Pete!". I still remember learning it in Activity Days 12 years ago! Everything comes full circle :)

The red soup is called "fruit soup." Blackberries, apples, currants, raspberries, and cherries.

Tardi Anna had us over for breakfast to say farewell to Bell nővér who is moving to Pápa. She served us a Hungarian breakfast of french toast with salted cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes on top. It will be fun to make for my family someday.

We ride down this path every day to and from the branch house. It is so pretty on rainy days.
Hutchinson nővér and I finished learning the "I Believe in Christ" duet! It's the hardest song I've ever learned but she believed in us. We practiced for two months and finally played in Sacrament meeting. The deacon in the ward loved it so much that afterwards I gave him the sheet music. I hope he plays it someday as a missionary with his companion. I'll attach an mp3 down below so you can hear us!

As the media leaders, we've have been prepping a lot for the upcoming transfer. A media plan has come together so perfectly over the past week and we'll do a training with the ZLs, STLs, and DLs this week. We're including the whole mission in creating Christmas media content for the FB page. Before then, we have a family history campaign and the first video is so cool. Here's the link!!!  More to come.

I LOVE being a missionary. This next transfer will be amazing!

Love,
Emma Rae
