Csodálatos ez az Élet - June 29, 2020

Nyár jöt!

In a lesson with Antal this week, we invited two other church members to join over FB messenger video, Éva and Zoli. We talked about who God is as our Heavenly Father, and the tools He's given us to prepare to return to live with Him, namely prophets. Antal is always eager and willing to learn more, and usually even goes above and beyond.

Like on Sunday we forgot to send him the Zoom church link, but when we joined the meeting he had already joined anyways. And then after church, he and a few members in our group chat with him shared their thoughts from the Come Follow Me lesson. Antal even looks different than when we first started meeting with him. Éva shared that observation that now he smiles so much more and I think he has a brighter countenance. On Wednesday, he stopped by the branch house and we gave him a paper copy of A Mormon Könyve! (The Book of Mormon) We are really hoping that his work schedule will change so he can come to Sacrament Meeting on Sunday mornings.

Légy vidám! - June 22, 2020

Szeged is usually the sunshine city, but it rains every single day! So green and fresh.
Ja napot kívánom!

On Sunday I met some of the ward members I haven't met before in person, and it was really exciting to finally see them in person, especially Éva. She helps in a lot of our lessons with Antal and always calls us when we text her about anything. When I first saw her walk in I just felt so excited because I've only seen the top half of her face because she uses a little old computer every Sunday for church. People in person are so much better :)

Game night on Friday was a great evening with quite a few young single adults--both ward members and non members. The medical school finals are slowly ending so more and more people are able to come. They all looked so relieved to be done with this year's finals! The Knowlton's made sloppy Joe's and everyone talked on the back lawn for a long time then we sat in a big circle and played signs. It's such a fun night of the week that we always look forward, especially because the youth in this ward are so so good.

On Wednesday (my mission half way mark!) we took the long way home to get a smoothie 😋
Tyler nővér and I were trying to decide what makes Szeged such a great city to serve in. Every missionary who serves here falls in love with it! I think there's just a different, uplifting, cheerful mentality here that makes it a very pleasant place to serve. I'm so grateful to be here and to be a missionary! I can't believe I have served nine months. It's going way too fast!

ALSO! My brother is getting married this week! I love you, Ben and Dani and I'll be thinking about and praying for you!

Love,

Bármikor, bárhol - June 16, 2020

Halihó!

This week was incredible and I wish these emails could do it half justice. You'll just have to read my journal someday, but even it isn't a perfect record. You just need to come have these experiences yourself :)

I haven't talked a lot about Antal, but he's our most progressing friend right now. Tyler nővér messaged him towards the beginning of quarantine randomly and added me to a group conversation with him when I transferred to Szeged a month later. Introductions provided a perfect opportunity to finally schedule a time to meet with him and share about the Restoration. Since then, we call almost twice a week for lessons but have never met in person. THEN! On Friday evening we were at the branch house for youth game night. As we walked from the chapel to the kitchen through the foyer, we glanced out the window and noticed that someone that looked like our friend Antal was walking past. We ran outside and met him in person! Crazy!? He was even more shocked than we were. What a not-so-coincidental coincidence :)

Szeged Sisters (+Elder Knowlton)
Jó reggelt!

We gave an online church tour to a new friend this week, Kitty. As we showed her around the branch house, we ran into the Sister Freeman and Mudrow with Imre (who will be baptized this Saturday!!) It was perfect timing because they were able to introduce themselves and Imre talked to her for a minute about his upcoming baptism. He even invited her to join and watch!

The Holy Ghost - June 1, 2020

It's June!

This week was round two of oinr Zone Conference. President Hettinger also announced that Hungary is entering 'phase 1" of readjusting back to normal missionary life. The First Presidency and Area Presidency have approved limited interactions for lessons in the church or parks, as well as mission conferences, district councils, and exchanges. Romania is still under government lock down so those missionaries are still in quarantine.

A social distancing lesson with the Knowltons and Bonnie, the recent convert from Shanghai!
We had our first in person lesson since quarantine with a recent convert named Piroska. We've been calling her weekly and it was great to finally meet in person. Our lesson was the same day as her baptism one year ago, so we brought flowers and a card for her with a picture of the temple. She was so happy and during the lesson shared about her conversion and testimony of The Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. It was a great lesson!
