Halihó!
This week was incredible and I wish these emails could do it half justice. You'll just have to read my journal someday, but even it isn't a perfect record. You just need to come have these experiences yourself :)
I haven't talked a lot about Antal, but he's our most progressing friend right now. Tyler nővér messaged him towards the beginning of quarantine randomly and added me to a group conversation with him when I transferred to Szeged a month later. Introductions provided a perfect opportunity to finally schedule a time to meet with him and share about the Restoration. Since then, we call almost twice a week for lessons but have never met in person. THEN! On Friday evening we were at the branch house for youth game night. As we walked from the chapel to the kitchen through the foyer, we glanced out the window and noticed that someone that looked like our friend Antal was walking past. We ran outside and met him in person! Crazy!? He was even more shocked than we were. What a not-so-coincidental coincidence :)
Another fun thing about Antal. A few different members have joined lessons with him, and we just add them to our group chat each time. So now when he has a question or shares thoughts over text with us, a ward member usually jumps in to answer and share their thoughts. It's really good for him to be building these relationships with the members and they are always so happy to help out.
On Friday we got up early and traveled for 2 1/2 by bus to our district leader's city, Békéscsaba, for District Council. It was misty and beautiful riding through so many green fields. Békéscsaba has a small branch so one of the elders is the branch president. We thought it was our last district council all together but the transfer news came today that everyone is staying in place. There might be a bigger emergency transfer if borders open soon for new missionaries. We'll see.
On Saturday Imre was baptized! Ward members came and others joined over Zoom and the whole service was beautiful. It was so so special to be there and watch and remember my baptism almost exactly 12 years ago. Then, Sunday we were able to come to the church for a Sacrament service. There were 5 members, the branch president and his son who prepared the Sacrament, and us four Szegedi sisters. I'm so grateful we could partake of the Sacrament again.
What a week. And they just keep coming! I just realized I didn't even include details about the Hettinger farewell conference, our preparation day adventure to Ópusztaszer, or a million other things. Someday! I love serving with Tyler nővér in Szeged! I'll be thinking about you this week!
Love,
Emma Rae
